Acts Chapter 2 and Cornelius

The same thing the disciples receive in Acts 2 Cornelius receive in Acts 10!

Please note:

1)Jesus gave his disciples the Holy Spirit before he ascended up to heaven.

John 20:21

21 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22

And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit...."

2)Jesus told his disciples to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the promised gift from the Father. Acts 1:4 40n one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." 3)Remember that the disciples already received the Holy Spirit when Jesus breathed on them, and Acts 1:8 tells what they will receive when the Holy Spirit will come on them in Acts 2:

Acts 1:8

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." In Acts 2:4 the disciples received the Power of the Holy Spirit and were given special power to speak languages they had never studied.

4) In Acts 4:29 the disciples prayed for the power to speak Jesus words with boldness. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

In Acts 4:31 God answered their prayers:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

HERE THEY WERE FILLED AGAIN WITH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO SPEAK BOLDLY!

5)In Acts 8:36-39 the Ethiopian eunuch was baptized in REAL WATER,...BELIEVE YOUR OWN EYES!!!

6) Now about Cornelius:

Acts 10:44-48 states-44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Then Peter said, 47 "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have." 48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the

name of Jesus Christ.

THE GENTILES HERE RECEIVED THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO SPEAK

IN TONGUES JUST AS THE DISCIPLES HAD IN ACTS 2. THIS DID NOT GIVE

THEM SALVATION, IT WAS THE ABILITY TO DO A MIRACLE. IT WAS A SIGN

TO PETER THAT CAUSED HIM TO SAY "CAN ANYONE KEEP THESE PEOPLE

FROM BEING BAPTIZED WITH WATER?

Jesus did it (was baptized) in water.

Jesus said his followers must believe and be baptized.

Those who deny this must ask themselves what evil force causes them to call the Lord of

Lords and King of Kings a LIAR.

Peter said Baptism doth now save you!

The old man is buried with Christ in Baptism thus the old man is alive and well prior to

baptism.

Wake up, get rid of traditions and read your own bibles and let the Holy Spirit teach you

the truth!
